This week, we travel back in time to Thunder Road for the 10th Neighbor show of the Thunder Road Residency (and, as Ricky notes, the 13th show of the Tuesday’s residency), taking place 5 years ago today featuring Special Guest Richard James, Special Guest Lyle Brewer, Special Guest Mike Miksis, and Special Guest Zack Burwick.
Tonight was full of special guests, including the band, Tom Papp, the entire audience, Steve (last name?) on Drums for Jealous Guy, and Sean Cronin (I think) and John (on Pedal Steel) for Taxman -> All Apologies. Other memorable moments included the comparison of Zack Burwick to Seth Rogen (creating Seth Burwick), and Ricky’s wish that “hopefully Dan will come join us one night.”
The Jam of the night has to be the debut original Headrush, clocking in at over an hour and still holding strong as the longest Neighbor song to date. Taxman -> All Apologies filled out the second set, along with the Neighbor debut of Northbound and Brakeless (previously debuted by the Taste Buds back in January).
This show was jam packed with rarities, including Northbound and Brakeless (#2 of 4), Jealous Guy (#2 of 3, and last until fall 2023), Taxman (#6 of 13), and All Apologies (#6 of 12). As previously mentioned, Headrush made its debut as an original alongside Northbound and Brakeless (Neighbor debut) as a Ricky original.
Headrush has been released a number of times by the band, including on video, on Rick’s Picks Vol. 6, and in the 30 for 30 band/nugs release (this is the only 30 for 30 show not available on Bandcamp). You can find links to view/purchase those releases below.
