This week, we travel back in time to Thunder Road for the 9th Neighbor show of the Thunder Road Residency, taking place 5 years ago today featuring Ricky, Lyle, The Dux, and Mike Miksis on bass.
“Never above you, never below you, always with you.” That was Ricky’s statement during Whiskey which headlined a show full of Neighborly moments, including the first time played of the elusive “Neighbor Neighbor” and another week where the “Neighbors of Swing” came out to play during the Dire Straits cover.
Lee Ross joined the band on Tenor Sax for the entire second set, marking his second appearance in consecutive weeks.
Don’t miss a monster jam with a Hey Pocky Way tease in Little Jimmy, the longest Southpaw to date, the longest Love Like Stone as of May 7, 2024, and a 14 minute long cover of Bowie’s Fame with Love Like Stone quotes.
Debuts included the Ricky ballad Wait Another Day, and covers of Neighbor, Neighbor (ZZ Top) and Fame (David Bowie).
Rarities included Southpaw (#5 of 8), Neighbor Neighbor (#1 of 2), Fame (#1 of 1), and Sultans of Swing (#6 of 10).
