Travel Back in Time: April 23, 2019

This week, we travel back in time to Thunder Road for the lucky number 7th show of the Thunder Road Residency, taking place 5 years ago today featuring Ricky, Lyle, Mike Miksis, and making his debut, Dean “The Dux” Johnston.

Memorable moments from this show included lots of lyric changes during Sultans of Swing, including “Tuesday Night” instead of “Saturday Night,” replacing names in the verses to band members’ names, and singing “Neighbor’s of Swing” during the chorus. Other cool moments include Ricky admitting that “Everywhere” is one of his favorite songs, replacing “Earl” in Little Jimmy with “Zack”, and a funky vocal jam in Why I Like You.

Taxman (13), All Apologies (12), Sultans of Swing (10), Everywhere (12), and Ain’t Wasting Time No More (4) comprise the songs played less than 15 times by Neighbor.

Don’t miss out on yet another monster Taxman -> All Apologies suite, a fiery Jimmy, a suite of Little Feat tracks to end Set 1 and begin Set 2, and an Allman Brother’s cover with a Mountain Jam and Blue Sky tease that seemed to foreshadow last weekend’s Allman-filled show at The Cut.

For the first time, no new songs were debuted at Thunder Road–the only debut made was of one special drummer, The Dux (who, according to my sources, Fux).
