5 years ago, Down the Road Brewery Co. in Everett, MA hosted the second week of “Taste Bud Tuesdays” featuring Ricky, Lyle, Zack Burwick on Drums, and Mike Miksis on Bass.
Memorable moments from the show include a “band fight” where Ricky tells the crowd about the battle over the new band’s name. Options included Brother, the Taste Buds, Taste Brothers, and (of course) Neighbor. The band also played two Elton John covers (Amoreena and Take Me to the Pilot) as well as a trio of Little Feat covers: Skin it Back, On Your Way Down, and Spanish Moon.
Don’t miss the heaping number of rarities, either: Southpaw (1 of 7 ever), In Memory of Elizabeth Reed (1 of 1), Amoreena (1 of 1), Take Me to the Pilot (1 of 1), Ziggy Stardust (1 of 2), Jealous Guy (1 of 5), Wild Blue (1 of 12), On Your Way Down (1 of 14), and Going Down the Road Feeling Bad (1 of 1).
Special guests included Robbie Wulfson from Ripe on vocals for Jealous Guy and Amoreena, and Johnny Trama who played Guitar for Amoreena.
Notable jams from the show include a spacey Taxman with a wacky synth jam, a stretched out In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, and a crowd sung chorus to Going Down the Road Feeling Bad.
Debuts included Wild Blue as an original tune, and covers of In Memory of Elizabeth Reed (Allman Brothers), Amoreena (Elton John), Take Me to the Pilot (Elton John), Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie), and Going Down the Road Feeling Bad (traditional, arr. Grateful Dead).
